Theresa, I find them all interesting, some I knew and some I didn’t! Like I never knew you saw a UFO or about your Linda Blair fear which I find quite funny because my biggest childhood fear was the Exorcist! I just love the new blog!!
Aunt Chrissy!
The UFO was here in FL one summer we spent with Dad down here. There were 3 of them together actually. TONS of cars were stopped on the side of the street looking at them. Then in a flash they were gone! (Needless to say I was scared for the rest of the trip that I was going to be abducted!)
As for Linda Blair – it’s really only her in the Exorcist movies. That was one NASTY girl!!!!
Proud to say that I knew them all….except for maybe the grandchildren part…….I lose count.
OMG. I adore this. First of all, I live in Pittsburgh and get excited when a blogger even mentions it (except most of them have moved away, thoughts? Lol). Second of all, I might just have middle child syndrome as well. And by might, I mean definitely. This prison warden comment just killed me, and were you in the marching band? What instrument did you play?
Hey Lexie – thanks for stopping by!
Most of my extended family still lives in Pgh! My parents moved to Erie when I was like 5…then I moved to FL when I was 24. Everyone in the Burgh still gives us a hard time about not living there anymore!
And yes – I was certainly in marching band. I played the flute in high school, and then switched to baritone for college and in drum corps. I’m a definite band geek at heart!
I came here by way of my good friend Dorry – where you left a comment talking about DRUM CORPS…
I was never, but I’ve seen more than one DCI championships and they are AMAZING !! We live on a rural enough street that it is my dream to get a marching snare and walk up & down our street… drumming…
my boyfriend was in drum corps also… and was a “band geek” as you say…
where did you go to college?
I’m off to read more of your blog… so happy to have found you…
and Oh My Gosh… do you have a DACHSHUND ???
Hi Kristina!
I was in a “division 3″ drum corps out of Erie, PA called Lake Erie Regiment. Div 3 was for the small guys (we had only 30-60 people each year), but it was such a GREAT experience! I’m sad to say that I haven’t even seen a DCI show in 5 years now – the last one was in 2005! You are correct though, championships are AMAZING! There’s just no other word for it! Drum corps (LER in particular) definitely played a huge role in making me who I am today!
As for college, I went to IUP (Indiana University of Pennsylvania) which is in a small town a couple hours outside of Pittsburgh. I guess it’s a medium sized school? I 100% picked them because they had the best marching band I had ever seen! (And happened to have a great criminology program…which is what I studied.) I think the band has gone down hill a bit though – the director retired a few years back and now it’s just not the same.
I see you found Dottie Pottie! I absolutely love dachshunds! And Miss P is one of the sweetest EVER! I would love to have a whole brood of them but our tiny house – and spoiled Dottie – might not put up with it.
Thanks for stopping by – I’m sure we’ll see a lot of each other here in blog land! (You’re already on my reader!)
