I started taking the stairs to my office a few weeks ago.
I’m still not sure what prompted this, but on a whim one day I decided to take a left and head into the stairwell instead of heading straight to the elevators.
Now I come into the office huffing & puffing because the 5 stories kick my ass every.single.day.
Those of you that do stair-climb challenges just might be insane. (I‘m talking to you Amy.)
Today I ended up with thirteen flights of stairs:
5 stories up + 5 stories down so I could pick up Jimmy John’s for lunch (YUM!) + 5 stories back up to my office + 5 down at the end of the day + 3 up to the dentist’s office + 3 down with my sparkly new choppers. 13 baby!
Quads of steel…that’s what I’m gonna have!
***************
In honor of my “usual” 5 flights a day, I’d like to share with you 5 things making me happy right now:
1. I have taken the stairs to/from my office 15 work days in a row. (And I’m from the department of redundancy department. (See what I just did there?))
2. I’ve discovered the joys of juicing – pure deliciousness! (Dottie likes juicing too.)
3. I got my permanent crowns today – and I can chew like a normal person again! I swear, these things are nothing short of amazing compared with the temps.
4. We’re finally starting to plan our spring vacation to Spokane! It’ll be SO nice to see everyone (it’s been 3 years since we were there last) and having a race to run in makes it even more exciting!
5. We got some great pictures of the foggy weather on Saturday after our long runs.
Normally you can see bright blue water from here!
So weird to not see “to Mexico”.
I love that we can go from a foggy, chilly day like this to 70s and SUN 6 hours later!
What’s making YOU happy right now?
that photo of Dottie is making me happy right now!! that’s awesome. Basil loves his spinach smoothies…
I am happy that my new gym opens tomorrow!!
Also? that the weekend was almost here…
Oooh! Can’t wait to hear more about your new gym!
It’s Friday!! And I have plans with some pretty awesome bloggers tonight!
You know, I’ve only met one blogger in real life so far – and it was a random run-in at a race!
Hi-
I just wanted to let you know that I got an email from MyBlogSpark about the expired FIberOne coupon and they said they’re trying to remedy the situation. If I hear anything, I’ll let you know. But I’m glad you like the water bottle!
Carly
Thanks for stopping by Carly. I’m not at all worried about them “remedying” the situation – it was still a great prize pack!
I’m happy its almost the weekend and that I’m going to a food and wine fest!!
The only food & wine fest I’ve ever been to is at Disney – I’d like to try a “real” one someday for sure!
I know those stairs well. I totally took them when I work at George’s building. Up in the morning, down for lunch. Up after lunch, down at the end of the day!
Keep it up.
I don’t know if I could handle all the way up & down! Just going from 4 where I park to 9 where my office is is hard on me! Maybe I’ll throw in an “extra” couple of floors every now and then just for kicks!
You absolutely rock for taking stairs! We have a stair climbing challenge coming up in OKC and I’m way too chicken to do it. Though it your butt totally tight or what? That’s one thing I do like about the stairs! BOOTY LIFT. Dottie is adorbs.
What’s making me happy is it’s sunny and the snow/ice should be officially GONE for us!
I seriously think I would die if I ever tried a stair climbing challenge. They have one in Tampa ever year & I’ve always been too chicken to try it too – I see the words “42 stories” and break out in a sweat! (I’m gonna have to focus on my booty now – I’ve only noticed my quads getting stronger!)
Yay for melting snow! (Booo for ice and snow in the first place…)
Dottie is such a cutie! My best friend has two miniature daschunds so they have a special place in my heart
I’m loving that it is FRIDAY and I’m about 3.5 hours from happy hour with my girl friends.
I’ve always love Doxies – they’re just such sweet dogs!
Happy Friday to you – enjoy happy hour!
Thanks for your comment on my blog!
Great job on the stairs… I do that too, but we just have a two floors in the building I work, so the training effect is not that great!
Have a great weekend!
Two is better than none if you ask me! One of my coworkers actually gives me a hard time because I don’t go all the way down to 1 and then take the full 9 up to my office…but that’s a little extreme if you as me!
I had a coworker that used to walk up and down the stairs at our office building a few times during lunch (buildings in DC are 12 stories, so it’s not like the 42 story building mentioned above). I want to start going up to my apartment once a day via stairs instead of elevator, which is 15 flights. We’ll see how I do after my knee heals hehe.
I’m happy that I only have a few more days until I can try to run again! And happy that it is FRIDAY!
I seriously think 15 would kill me – just taking 5 with all the junk I have to carry with me wipes me out!
That is a lot of stairs!! And so glad you got your JJ’s fix.
Wow, the stair thing is such a great idea! I bet you will notice a hude difference in your quads and lung capacity for it in no time!
The only difference I’m seeing so far is that my quads are ALWAYS sore! hehe.
Seriously, I am seeing more definition already – and my booty looks better too!
Awesome job taking the stairs! I work on the 1st floor now and that’s not much exercise – I do try to take the stairs every where I go (I hate elevators). You’ve motivated me to find an excuse to go up to the 4th floor more often!
I’m happy that it’s Saturday and that I can finally run 3 miles without my ankle injury flaring up.
Now lets not get ahead of ourselves here Mom – I definitely won’t “find” a reason to go up stairs yet, but if I “have” to go to another floor I’ll take the stairs.
SO happy that your ankle is feeling better! You’ll be back to your regular mileage before you know it. (And I’m glad you listened to the Dr. and backed off!!!)
ahahahaha! Just wait… all the sudden you’ll be finding excuses to go up and down them! “oops… forgot something in my car… oops… think I dropped something downstairs…” And all the sudden, you’ll be paying money to climb a stairwell.
It happens to the best of us.
I also got my boss hooked on taking the stairs. It’s a movement, I’m tellin’ ya!
Happy Monday!
I still think you’re crazy Amy – but maybe because the 5 flights still leave me huffing & puffing!
It looks like Dottie needs to start taking the stairs, too!
We’ve been much better about walking her, so she’s trimming down a little!
