If there were a scoreboard for my workouts this week it would look like this:
Eggplant: 1 / Workouts: 2
Yep, that means I’ve had two workout #fails so far this week and only one “success”. (But that certainly didn’t stop me from taking a full rest day on Thursday!)
It all started on Monday afternoon when I tweeted this:
Diggity and I hightailed it home from work (we’re still a one-car family!) and I immediately grabbed my gear for a quick swim followed by yoga class. Then I was off for the YMCA! But not before I squeezed in a puppy kiss from this little girl:
As soon as I saw the parking lot I knew I was in trouble because it basically looked like this:
not the actual parking lot…but you get the point…
I found a spot in the overflow lot & then I literally RAN into the building – after all, I had just enough time to change & swim for 20 min before I needed to be in the yoga room.
As I was swiping my membership card I noticed a sign stating that 7pm Yoga was cancelled.
No biggie! That just meant I could swim longer, right? (We all know I need to work on THAT!)
NO DICE!
Apparently this is what one should expect the pool to look like on a Monday at 6:30pm:
not the actual pool…but you get the point…
Seriously, ALL of the following activities were taking place at the same time:
- Infant swim lessons (this was actually pretty damn cute to see!)
- Youth swim lessons
- Water Aerobics
- Youth/Junior Swim Team
Keep in mind that this is only a 10 lane swimming pool…so it was crowded (and I would guess it was near overflowing!)
Needless to say, I said a few swear words under my breath (I think?) and walked out to make the drive back home as BOTH workouts I had planned were total failures.
I salvaged the evening with an at-home yoga sesh (thanks to Diggity telling me to buck up and do one!) that turned out to be seriously intense!
So maybe this one was good enough for a 0.5 score?
Wednesday was another doozy of a workout failure:
It was so horrible I barely lasted 20 minutes – and I walked out with NO GUILT AT ALL.
I do feel sorta bad for the sub, so I won’t completely lambaste her here…lets just say that her teaching style did not mesh with my spin class expectations at all! (Others did seem to really like it though.)
I may or may not have decided to drink wine instead of salvaging this one…
So what was my workout #win this week? Running with Diggity on Tuesday evening!
This was my first run since SRQ and I just wanted to get out there and move a little.
We had a very nice, easy paced 3-miler around our neighborhood. The weather is really wonderful here this time of year & it was nice to just be out there and enjoy the run with absolutely no time or distance expectations!
That’s supposed to be me & Diggity…two lovebirds…get it?
And now to start the weekend off right, I’m heading over to the pool for another try…because THIS is how the pool usually looks on a Friday Night:
Seriously, I usually swim on Friday evening & most of the time it’s just me and the lifeguard.
WHAT ABOUT YOU:
Have you ever had a week where your workout plans just don’t work out? How do you salvage them?
Any fun plans for the weekend? I know lots of you are running the National Marathon & Half Marathon in DC – have fun & be safe! I’ll be enjoying a 3-day weekend because we have family coming to visit!
Just went to my pool… Had to drag my ass out the door to get there to find a sign “pool closed until 7pm.” A kid must have yaked in the lap pool and I wasn’t waiting around 30 minutes. I did spin this morning so I didn’t feel guilty.
Tomorrow is a full day of working out, 55 min run in the morning, followed by kayoga (yoga and kayak sesh at Ft. DeSoto).. I deserve tonight off.
Dude. Totally with ya on the crap workouts this week. The gym has been overcrowded and I’m semi-on-the-mend at the moment. NOT COOL!
Here’s to a better next week!
My workouts didn’t go as planned this week, either! I just wasn’t feeling it. Luckily this morning all but made up for my workouts (or lack of) this week!
It must be the week for workouts not working out. Ha. I’m so clever. My schedule was crazy as well but my goal for this week is to stick w/ it! I felt so OFF.
