Wow – I can’t believe it’s been over a week since my last post! (I guess sometimes work laundry puppies shopping life just gets in the way of blogging.)
Since I have several days to cover here, I’m gonna try to keep it short…but beware, this could be a long one. Here we go:
Saturday (19th)
A day filled with yard work and shopping.
We did lots and lots of weeding in the sweltering 100* heat. I knew I would be too pooped to get in a “real” workout after all of the bending/twisting/sweating involved with this project so I tried to make the most of it.
- Any time I needed to pick something up? SQUATS.
- Any time I needed to cut a branch? Make like you’re doing a chest fly
- Any time I needed to pick something up? Bent over rows
You get the point. It turned into a really great “workout”!
After the yard work we escaped to the Outlet Mall and got our shop on. (I came home with a GREAT dress for work! Diggity got some jeans.)
(Please disregard the mess – that’s our spare room…basically a catch-all!)
Sunday (20th)
The day started with cleaning out the garage with Diggity.

(Not my garage but you get the point!)
I found lots and lots of clothing that I was “saving” for skinnier days. Some of it even made the trip from PA to FL with me 6 years ago. Most of it went to Goodwill.
(Realistically, I’ll probably never be the same size I was when I was 24/25 years old. AND even if it did fit, it’s sadly outdated.)
The evening brought a run with Tamika and Diggity at Robinson Preserve. We set out with a plan to do 6 miles but a storm was rolling in and we called it quits after 4 miles (46:07). Here are the stats:
- Mile 1 – 11:42
- Mile 2 – 11:21
- Mile 3 – 11:13
- Mile 4 – 11:49
It was a GREAT run and the longest I’ve run yet with sub-12 min miles the whole time. I was also pleasantly surprised to see miles 2 & 3 were negative splits! Definitely making progress on my speed!
Monday (21st)
After Sunday’s run with Tamika and Diggity I decided to use Monday as a rest day. ‘Twas glorious!

Tuesday (22nd)
An uber stressful day at work. I blew off some steam by pounding out 3 quick miles in 34:38. Here’s what Garmie said:
- Mile 1 – 10:57 My first sub-11 min mile on a training run!
- Mile 2 – 11:26
- Mile 3 – 12:12 (Clearly that 1st mile caught up with me!)
I’m VERY happy with that run! I took a couple walk breaks in mile 3, so I knew it was going to be my slowest mile out there – and 12:12 was actually faster than I expected!
Wednesday (23rd)
Another date with my boyfriend LeMond! As usual, the class left me feeling spaghetti legged and just plain exhausted.
I do have a confession though. I think I’m emotionally cheating on LeMond. You see, the instructor has a brand new spinner! And boy is he HOT. Check this stud out:

I couldn’t take my eyes off of him the whole class! Actually, I think everyone is now hoping this means we’ll ALL get new bikes. So keep your fingers crossed for us!
Thursday (24th)
Another ultra stressful day at work. I got out late so got home at almost 8. I was quite frankly just in a bad mood.
On a happy note, I discovered the 30 Day Yoga Challenge that Healthy Ashley came up with. I decided this is something I MUST do.
I can’t afford to go to a studio, and the classes offered at the YMCA don’t fit with my work schedule so I really just do what’s available for free “on demand” from Verizon.
I did YogaWorks Body Slim as my Day 1 workout.

It is ONE HELL OF A WORKOUT if you ask me. The class alternates between cardio-based Vinyasas/flows followed by a “slow burn” segment. Definitely gets your heart pumping!
I figured this 30 day challenge would be a good way to expose myself to more Yoga postures and be a nice compliment to running and biking.
After the workout I definitely drank 3 beers and ate lots of pizza. What can I say – I’m an emotional eater. Was that the best decision I could have made? No. Did I feel better afterward? Slightly. (This is a habit I’m slowly trying to break.)
Friday (25th)
Friday was an easy workout day – I ended up trying my first class from YogaDownload.com and really liked it! I think this will be a great source for new yoga experiences!
30 Day Challenge Day 2? CHECK
My goal for the 30 days? Chaturanga Dandasana without my knees on the ground!

Saturday (26th)
I was supposed go for a bike ride on Saturday – but I opted instead to go to a birthday party for a coworker’s precious 1 year old. It was HOT already at 11am so I’m glad I skipped the morning ride.
After the birthday party I spent ages in the store trying to find proper undergarments a strapless bra and Spanx for under my bridesmaid dress. I swear, it’s like a gymnastics class trying that stuff on!
But I left the store happy and poorer after finding everything I needed.
The night ended with Day 3 of the Yoga Challenge: a self-led 15 min yoga session. I basically just did the parts of Friday’s YogaDownload.com class that I remembered!
TODAY: Sunday (27th)
I have a 6 mile run scheduled for tonight (my last long run before Peachtree next week!). It’s currently 93* with a “feels like” of 103* so I’ll head out after the sun starts to set.
Until then I’ll be doing laundry and/or mopping the floors. Seriously.

We missed you!!! Glad you had a great (and productive) week!
Sounds like you had a great week! Yay for a negative split run. I don’t know how you do that in this heat! And I agree, that spin bike looks amazing!
I swear – I would consider becoming a spin instructor JUST to have the chance to use that spinner!
I think it’s really fun to run a negative split. I just hope I don’t become obsessed with them. That would kind of ruin the “yeah” moment when I realize I’ve done it.
