Shopping with Larry

I got a present from FedEx yesterday!

My new panniers and rack!

For starters, we went with the Old Man Mountain “Red Rock” rack.  This is what Diggity got for his bike a while back & since he likes it so much we figured it would be the best one for me as well.

For the panniers I got the Ortleib “Bike-Packer Plus”

I’ll be honest – I picked this set because each bag has an extra pocket on the front!  (Meaning I can pack more junk more supplies when we start touring!)

Diggity talked me thru getting the bike rack onto Larry (I’m surprisingly tool-challenged…it took about an hour to do it…)

And tonight we went for our first shopping trip with my panniers!

We each took one bag…which was overkill for sure.  My pannier contained:

  • Frozen french fries
  • Tomato
  • Ranch Dressing
  • Pickles

(Diggity’s bag may or may not have conatined a small cherry pie for dessert!)

I was quite surprised – I couldn’t even tell I only had stuff on one side of my bike!  I thought for sure it would feel lopsided even though Diggity assured me I wouldn’t be able to tell.

I’m sure I will be able to tell when I have two bags completely full though – just because the bike will feel heavy.

Eventually we each want to get bigger seat bags as well as one for our handlebars so we can travel for days at a time.

But one day at a time…

(So we’re all clear – I paid for both the rack and the panniers with my own hard earned money.  So did Diggity.)

***************

I’m on track with Week 2 of my 5 Weeks of Labor Challenge.

Tonight I will be doing Yoga before bed – I’m going to do one of the “relaxation” videos on demand.

My interval run before work on Wednesday was GREAT!  I ran each 400 meter interval under 10 min/mile!  Here are the stats:

  • Interval 1 – 9:30 per mile pace
  • Interval 2 – 9:57
  • Interval 3 – 9:44
  • Interval 4 – 9:51
  • Interval 5 – 9:44
  • Interval 6 – 9:52

I am really happy with that run.  I’ve been struggling with intervals lately – especially when I run in the morning.

It’s slow going but I’m making progress for sure.

I still have a TON of work to do in the pool – but I’m not trying to break any records with swimming.  I basically just want to get thu the swim without drowning.

I struggle every time I’m in the pool but all that matters is that I’m sticking with it.

Right?

Nighty night!

Swimming w/o drowning sounds like a great goal. I should make that one of mine. :) Great job on your run!! I’m so slow but I am happy when it’s done! Definitely working on my speed.
