Change in Plans

17 Sep, 2010

So I announced my fall race schedule a few months ago.

Well, it’s changing.  Very slightly.

Instead of doing the Alafia X-Country Half Marathon…I’m going to do the Women’s Half Marathon in St. Petersburg!

Why?

I don’t really want to run 13 cross country miles!

And I was sad that  I missed the Women’s Halfer last year – I heard it was a great event.  I can’t miss it again this year!

AND x 2 - the Medal this yea is going go be a-w-e-s-o-m-e! Check it out:

It’s a Palm Tree with a removable center charm that can be put onto a necklace or bracelet!  Although to be honest, I’ll probably leave it on the medal.  I’m not much of a jewelery wearer.  (Disclaimer: I may or may not run half marys just to get a medal…)

AND x 3 – It’s the race that my Karna Fitness running group is training for.

To top it all off, the races are actually on the same day so I don’t have to change my training schedule at all!  (Meaning I’ll be DONE before Thanksgiving and don’t have to watch how much beer I chug or every delicious morsel that gets piled onto my plate over the holiday!)

Speaking of Thanksgiving, this is where an addition to my schedule comes in:

I’ll also be running the BRC Turkey Trot 5 Miler on Thanksgiving morning!

This is the one I’m really excited about!  Just because it’s going to be F.U.N.

Magpie (my mama) and Ron are running it too – and my niece and nephew will be waiting for us at the finish line!

Fun times for sure!

Plus there will be no pressure since it’s only a few days after the Halfer.

So there you have it – my updated fall race schedule!

Sounds great!! I loved trail races, but find the 1/2 mary distance frustrating- I’d rather do a ten-miler or a super long event if I’m going offroad.

Awesome! I’ve been running (if you can call it that) for years, but I’ve never run a race! Shocking, right? I’ve often thought about a Thanksgiving one because it’d be fun…and a good excuse for overeating later. :)

Races are actually the only thing that keep me motivated! Otherwise I’d slowly ease off and quit working out! (Made that mistake about a year ago…)

Sounds like great (and fun!) race choices. And I have to say the medal is cute. :)
