I can’t believe I’m actually going to say this out loud put this in writing for all the blogosphere to read…but here goes:
I hereby promise myself that I shall NOT MISS ANY WORKOUTS between now and Labor Day.

For 5 weeks I will stay on track and not sabotage myself. (Because that’s really all I’m doing when I skip a workout.)
What started all this? Beth. Beth wrote about her Labor Day Challenge last week and I promptly became temporarily insane & announced my intention for the next 5 weeks.
Why now? I’ve never really put my goals in writing – workout goals or any other goals for that matter. They just float around in my head as some abstract idea that never really goes anywhere. So I decided it was NOW OR NEVER.
Here are the rules for my self-imposed 5 Weeks of Labor Challenge
- Do not skip any workouts.
- The workout-week “starts” on Monday and “ends” on Sunday.
- Shipping workouts is prohibited.

Plain and simple. (And purposefully redundant on purpose
)
There is one caveat: I can complete a workout on a different day than scheduled – as long as it is done within the same workout week.

I technically started my challenge on July 29th, the same day as Beth’s original post.
And I’m proud to say I get shiny stars for all of the workouts:
- Thursday: Swam 550 Yards
- Friday: Scheduled Rest Day
- Saturday: Biked 10.55 miles
- Sunday: Ran 25 minutes

Here’s what’s in store for me this week
- Monday: Rest Day (Check.)
- Tuesday: Swim 300 Yards + 5×800 Intervals
- Wednesday: 6pm Spin Class or Bike 6 miles
- Thursday: Swim 400 Yards + Run 30 Minutes
- Friday: Yoga
- Saturday: Run 30 Minutes
- Sunday: Bike 10 Miles
Wish me luck!

And now that my hosting service has crashed twice (boooo!)… and lost this section of my post twice…
I’ll simply leave you with a hint about what’s to come next on ActiveEggplant:

Any guesses?

Good luck with your Labor Day challenge! I know you can do it! I always jot down my workouts for the week, and always end up doing them on different days than originally planned. Life happens
Hmmm… are you going camping? I’m horrible at guessing!
I’m already switching workouts today!
Just so much easier to play it by ear!
And you’re close! VERY close! Another hint to come later day!
