First, I’d like to say Thank You for all of the kind words after my last post. It never ceases to amaze me that although we have never met in person you all are so supportive and caring. It’s humbling to be part of this wonderful community!

I can’t believe I’m already wrapping up the third week of my 5 Weeks of Labor challenge! Only 2 weeks left? Gah!
Here’s how this week shaped up:
Monday was a rest day. I just can’t get enough of the Monday rest days! Makes for a good start to the week since I don’t need to start work AND a new week of intense workouts on the same day. Purely a mental thing, I know. But it’s working.
I did an interval workout on Tuesday morning. I planned to do 6×400 meters with 200 meters of rest. (I always do shorter rests to save time in the morning). After a 1/4 mile warmup I started the intervals & things were going great:
Then Garmie started getting wacky…
Turns out Garmie needs some repairs
So it’s time to say goodbye for a bit while he gets fixed.
Wednesday was filled with a 500 yard swim in the morning and 6pm Spin after work. This week class was filled with looonnnnngggg hill climbs which left my legs shaky and weak. I may or may not have thrown up in my mouth during class. You decide which.

Thursday was a relatively easy day with Yoga on the Edge before bed. I really dig this workout! Once again I turned the sound way down so I didn’t have to listed to that woman’s voice. My plan is to memorize the workout and play my own soundtrack eventually…
On Friday morning I did my first BRICK workout for my Siesta Key Triathlon training program! ‘Twas absolutely glorious! Since Garmie is out of commission and I’m too lazy to map it out I have no idea how far I went. But I rode for 30 minutes, changed shoes & then ran 30 minutes. I was sweatty and smelly and felt great!
On Saturday morning I went to the beach and completed an open water swim.
This was my first time really swimming in the Gulf. It was HARD. And salty. But lucky for me I didn’t have any close encounters with sharks fish.
When I got out of the water I felt like I had been sucking on pretzel rods all day long.
And not this kind of pretzel rod:

This kind of pretzel rod:

I’m definitely going to have to get used to chugging water after the swim without getting sick on the bike.
I’m going to try to get in at least one open water swim per week from here on out. Figure that will help prepare me for race day.
The rest of the day consisted of turkey sammies, beer, laughs, takeout for dinner and coconut cream pie.
Today I went for a spin on Red Beard (my road bike) after a yummy breakfast with Diggity. After a 1 mile warmup I rode hard for 12 miles, then cooled for another mile or so. My legs are definitely tired and can use a break…but not before tonight’s 40 min run…

Hope y’all had a wonderful weekend!
I always had to have Fridays as my off days when working because I was always too beat and would skip. I never thought about Mondays though. That’s a good one too. Now I stay at home and every day blends together. LOL
I used have Friday rest days. Then would ultimately skip Monday after hard workouts (or too much “fun”) over the weekend! As long as I do my workout Friday morning I’m all set!
Great job on week 3! You’re half way done chick and doing awesome! An open water swim in the gulf? You are brave! It looks gorgeous there. Keep up the great work!
Just don’t tell anyone I was too chicken to do the gulf swim by myself…I made my sister come with me! (And I swam at the guarded public beach, just in case!)
I def don’t do any open water swims alone…no sharks in florida, but plenty of seaweed right!
